About Our College

Welcome To Our PTMTM College Kamuthi

Pasumpon Thiru Muthuramalinga Thevar Memorial College Kamuthi was founded in June 1970 as a glowing tribute to the memory of the great patriot Thiru. U.Muthuramalinga Thevar. The College is affiliated to Alagappa University, Karaikudi. It is opened to students of all castes and creeds of both sexes. It makes in the backward area a modest beginning of higher education. From May, 1984 onwards the Regional Joint Director of Collegiate Education, Madurai Region, Madurai has been acting as the care taker of the college. Now he has been acting as special officer of the college since 14.11.2022

Class Hours

The Class hours begin at 10 am. There are two sessions in a day. The Lunch Break is from 1.00 pm to 2.00 pm. On Saturday, the working hours starts from 9.30 am to 1.30 pm. Physical Training shall normally be after 4.00 pm.

As per Proceedings given by the Govt of TN and the JDCE Madurai Region, under Free Education Scheme No.4860/L3/07dt.24.05.07 Tuition Fees are exempted for all under graduates students and as per the G.O(Ms) No.113 Higher Education (C1) department, the persons with benchmark disabilities dt.28.06.2024 are exempted special and tuition fees.

Attendance and leave of absence conditions

  • Day order system with five clock hours of work per day from 10.00 am to 4.00 pm with one hour lunch break between 1.00 pm to 2.00 pm is followed. Six day time table will recycle with Saturday and Sunday as holidays. However some Saturdays will be working days so as to reach the total of 90 working days per semester.
  • The first bell is rung five minutes before the beginning of the morning and evening session respectively and the second bell at the hour fixed for beginning of the class.
  • After the first bell of each session, students shall go to their classes and take their seats quietly.
  • Students shall attend the college regularly and punctually on all working days.
  • Attendance will be marked at the beginning of each period. A student who is not in the class when attendance is taken shall be marked absent.
  • Certificate of attendance will be issued only to those students who have obtained 75% of the total attendance fixed for the courses.
  • Leave will be granted during the working hours for the purpose of meeting parents, guardians, relatives or friends.
  • No student can absent himself from the college without the application for leave; in case of sickness over three days, it must be accompanied by medical certificate.
  • Absence without proper leave letter would be considered seriously.
  • The absence of any student who absents himself or herself continuously for ten days without leave will have his/her name struck off the rolls.
  • Leave for any particular period may be obtained from the member of the staff who engages the class for the period.
  • Absence for one period in any session will be counted as absence for half a day.
  • Application for leave should be made well in advance. In cases where absence is due to unforeseen circumstances, an application for leave should be submitted as soon as possible and not later than the day of return to the college.
  • The leave letter should be submitted to the HOD in the prescribed form stating clearly the reason for absence; the application for leave must be countersigned by the parent or guardian concerned.
  • 75% (seventy-five percent) of attendance is essential for getting scholarship.

College Etiquette

  • Every Student shall wear a clean and decent dress.
  • When a member of the staff enters the class room the student shall rise and remain standing till they are asked to sit or the member of the staff taken his/her seat.
  • Every student is expected to provide himself/herself with the required books and notes in every subject.
  • Every student shall endeavor to attend classes regularly and shall refrain from doing anything calculated to affect the attendance of the other students.
  • Using cell phones, Smoking, Consuming liquor, cool lip and Chewing by students are strictly prohibited within the College Campus.
  • Eve-teasing or ragging is punishable.

Physical Education

Students of the College are promoted to play games regularly and receive a regular course of Physical Training.Intramural Games, Tournaments and Sports will be conducted separately for men and women annually. Our college students participate in the intercollegiate Tournaments and Sports Meet.

Alumni Association

An Alumni Association is also functioning in the College. Former students provide financial support for the betterment of the college and also participate in the college activities."Strengthening bonds and advancing careers through our dedicated Alumni Association".

National Service Scheme (NSS)

The Over-all objective of NSS is to render service to the community by the Student Volunteers. It seeks to arouse social consciousness of students and provide them an opportunity to develop their creativity. The motto of NSS is “NOT ME BUT YOU”.The College has three NSS units (26, 27 & 28) and students of the I st year degree classes are enrolled as volunteers.

Certificates

Conduct Certificates will be issued to students usually at the end of their course of study. A fee of Rs.50/- shall be charged for issuing each of the following certificates: Conduct Certificate, Course Certificate and Attendance Certificate

A late fee of Rs.5/- will be Charged, if the student applies for Transfer Certificate ten days after the reopening of the college for the next academic year.
